Player Profile

Q: How did you pick your playing number?

A: My number was picked for me when I first started playing inline hockey. I went out bought all the players equipment and our team needed a goalie. By the second training I was the team goalie and have been playing in goals ever since.

Q: Do you have a nickname at hockey?

A: Gabe or Gaber. Recently started getting called "Del" after many problems trying to shorten the last name.

Q: When did you start playing hockey?

A: I started playing inline when I was 12 and ice hockey when I was 16

Q: How did you score your first goal?

A: In summer league out as a forward

Q: Do you have a set move on a breakaway or do you decide on the way in?  

A: No

Q: Who was your favourite NHL player growing up?

A: I was a big fan of Mikka Kiprusoff

Q: What other sports do you follow?  

A: None other really, I do like watching sports in general though

Q: Do you have a favourite shot? 

A: The ones that I stop

A: What’s the most memorable moment of your hockey career?  

A: Winning the Goodall cup with 2 different AIHL teams and every time I've played for my state or country. Also meeting people involved with hockey through tournaments or training camps. I was just talking with someone on the Olympic German team in Nagano away in an inline championship in Sweden and currently (in July) am overseas about to go to a training camp with Slovakian Head Coach Jan Filc who was just in the Winter Olympics.

Q: Worst injury you have had in a game?

A: Torn meniscus during 2 separate games. Have had surgery on both knees

Q: What do you do in your free time away from hockey?  

A: I like to travel, so I am always looking at opportunities to discover new places to go

Q: What’s your dream car?  

A: Maserati Grand Turismo

Q: You’ve just won the lottery what do you do?

A: Buy 3 castles. In different countries

Q: What’s your future ambition?  

A:  I like working in the health industry, I find it interesting and rewarding when you've helped someone. Whether it's rehabilitation or even helping people reach their goals or even their potential.

Q: Favourite moment with the Bears?  

A: Many. Going away last year to play against NZ with a couple of the Bears boys was memorable, and a few of the games this year have been as well

A: Alors on Danse

Q: What do you enjoy most about playing hockey?  

A: I enjoy being on the ice, the people involved and the quality of hockey i'm involved with. These things often become memorable
