Dulle talks Australia from home
Kurtis Dulle takes time from his busy working schedule back in Saskatchewan to talk to reporter Christian Roach about his time in Australia.
Sydney Bears regulars would have noticed the gaping hole in import presence within the team toward the end of the season, with Tony Demelinne resuming his sterling career back home, but Saskatchewan local Kurtis Dulle also departing home to, as he says, “work his white Canadian ass off”.

A more than difficult season has come to an intense end with The Bears losing to cross town rivals The Ice Dogs on Sunday night, four goals to two.
Captain Michael Schlamp couldn’t criticise the effort of his team despite the loss, “We were with them right up to the end of the game, it was good,” He said.
We were competitive even with the young guys, its good it’s over, we can turn the page and look forward to next year,” he said.
Bears Welcome AIHL Conferences
Following the league's introduction of a 2 conference system, Bears management has given its support to the changes.
Following the league's introduction of a 2 conference system, Bears management has given its support to the changes. "The AIHL has made the right decision with the expansion of the league" says assistant captain Brett Nelson-Bond.
To accommodate the Perth Thunder in the competition, the league has split into 2 conferences. Joining the Sydney Bears in the Eastern Conference will be Canberra, Sydney Ice-dogs, Gold Coast, and Newcastle. The Western Conference will be made up of the 2 Melbourne teams, Adelaide, and newcomers Perth.
Fan Appreciation Night 2011
The Sydney Bears thanked their loyal fans and sponsors with a skate around Penrith Ice Palace
The Sydney Bears thanked their loyal fans and sponsors with a skate around Penrith Ice Palace before their last game of 2011. While they haven't enjoyed a lot of success on the ice this year, their supporters were out in force, as players slowed it down a little to share some tips and stories with the best fans in the league. The excitement carried over into the game as a healthy crowd of red cheered the Bears onto an early lead aginst The Ice Dogs.

Bears go down fighting in loss
14/08/11
The Sydney Bears were defeated by the Adelaide Adrenaline 7-3 at Penrith Ice Palace in the Australian Ice Hockey League at Penrith Ice Palace on Sunday.
Despite mounting a comeback in the final period, the Bears’ lack of depth was evident without their two star imports, Dutchman Tony Demelinne and Canadian Kurtis Dulle.
Adelaide opened the scoring early through forward Cass Delsar, who found enough space inside a packed Bears goalmouth to finish, and doubled their lead soon after, thanks to a brilliant individual effort from forward Josef Rezek.
Coming up short against Mustangs
07/08/11
The Bears battled till the final minute against the Mustangs going down 3-2 with a short bench.
With a short bench on the road Sydney players would have to log a lot of minutes against a speedy Melbourne squad, but the Bears got off to a good start when defence-man Steve Adams buried a power play goal, to give his team a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period.
The Bears then withstood a barrage of Melbourne power plays but eventually gave up the equalising goal, and soon after the home team added another to take the lead.
Tony Demelinne shines downunder
Tony Demelinne leaves the Bears squad before the end of the season to prepare himself for the Swedish 2nd Division.
The name of the game for The Bears this year was leadership, with a young and inexperienced team line up, strength and knowledge were needed to guide the up and coming Bears to take on the AIHL opposition.
Enter Tony Demelinne, who after some well-earned success in Europe, joined The Bears in the fourth game against The Ice, his presence was immediately felt remarkably scoring four goals. Losing key import Jordan Hale to a sudden season ending injury, it was up to Tony and fellow import Kurtis Dulle to lead the way, while Canadian import Sheldon Baerg held the net.
Close but yet so far for The Bears
31/07/11
Goaltender Sheldon Baerg was the only import to play for the Sydney Bears as they went agonizingly close to taking down the Canberra Knights in Penrith
A late season win went begging for The Bears on Sunday night, after going down 3-2 in a thriller to Canberra.
Assistant Captain Brett Nelson-Bond said there were positives to take from the loss “With the position we’re in we’ve got to look towards next year, so we gave some of the younger boys a run.”
I thought we played well considering we were minus some of our best players,” he said.
