Struggles on the road continue

The Bears road record slumped to (2-1-6) after going down to the North Stars on Sunday night. Missing Michal Lauko and Dan Shaw with game misconducts received in Saturday nights game against the Ice Dogs the Bears skated with only 2 lines on the night.

Adjusting to the new offensive lines, the Bears struggled to click early one with the North Stars defense man able to skate the puck out of their zone and create pressure on the Bears defense. The score was deadlocked at 0-0 till 2 minutes to go in the first period until Peter Cartwright split the defense and scored 5 hole on a breakaway, putting the North Stars up 1-0 going into the second period.

The North Stars continued to roll 3 lines against the Bears 2 and extended their lead to 3-0 after capitalising on 2 turn overs by the Bears. The Bears came close to scoring on Matt Ezzy after 3 scambles in front but on each occasion were unsuccessful in finding the back of the net.

Playing with only 2 lines finally caught up with the Bears in the third period as the North Stars extended the lead to 6-0 before Michael Schlamp scored with 2 minutes to go in the game to make the score 6-1.

"The score didn't reflect the efforts the boys put in tonight" said team manager Gabriel Robledo Snr.

The Habitat Furniture Man of the Match went to Michael Schlamp for scoring the only goal of the game and snapping Matt Ezzy's shut out bid.

The Bears next game is against the Ice Dogs in a rematch of last weekend's clash, puck drops 5pm, Sunday at the Penrith Ice Palace.
