Bears lose a tough dog fight

Anticipation of a spirited game spilled over onto the ice, both teams brining a pack of energy to their front lines. The Bears spent a lot of time attacking the Dogs net, but by the end of the first period the teams had managed more than enough penalties but remained scoreless. Canadian Goalie Sheldon Baerg performing at a new level holding off savage attacks from the Dogs to ensure the Bears had the edge in defence.

However the Bears offensive edge was increased when Dutch import Tony Demelinne took first blood 30 seconds into the second period. The Dogs came back to equalise with the Bears after Canadian defenceman Kurtis Dulle received a penalty, but he gave Bears fans something to cheer about when he put them back in front. However Dulles’ nemesis on the ice Robert Malloy scored for the Dogs with 37 seconds to go and with three seconds before the end of the period Billy Cliff put the Dogs ahead.

It seemed the final period inconsistency may have been shaken by the Bears, after Tony Demelinne once again was the first to score, equalising with the Dogs. Not long after Kurtis Dulle put The Bears ahead once again, however a fist full of penalties due to heated exchanges between players on the ice saw
