Final home of game this season

The Bears only need 1 point from their final 3 games of the season to secure a position in the AIHL finals later this month.

After a convincing 3-0 win last weekend over the defending AIHL champions the Adelaide Adrenaline, the Bears have now extended their winning streak to 3 games and will be looking to carry this momentum into the final few games of the season.

Nick Boucher is back in top form after stopping all 27 shots he faced last weekend for his second shut out of the season. The shut out also helps Nick reclaim the crown amongst active goal tenders in the league. Eric Begin also leads the league in points scored by a defenseman with 24 points (12G, 12A) in only 24 games.

The Bears will be getting a huge boost this weekend with the return of head player coach Vlad Rubes, after missing the last 3 games due to family commitments.

"We want to lock in our play off spot this weekend. With Nick playing amazing in and the teams strong effort from the previous weeks we know its in our hands to reach our goal" said Coach Rubes on this weekends game.

On defense the Bears will also see the return of Nick Cleland (work commitments) and Steve Adams (lower body injury). Filling the hole left by them last weekend was 17 year old sensation Daniel Spina. Pairing up with defensive partner Eric Begin, Daniel shut down the Adrenalines offence and was solid on the back end all night.

Having the ability to roll 3 lines over the last 3 games has been the key to success for the Bears, with the third line of Jim Zvonicek, Joel Rhodes and Adrian Esposito providing the offensive spark by scoring the first 2 goals in last weekends game.

"Its been a huge turn around for us this season as by this time last year we still hadn't won a game in regulation time, and now we are only 1 win away from the finals." said Forward Brett Nelson-Bond about the season so far.

Come and speak with the players in the annual "Meet the Player" event right after the game. We will also be celebrating our home season record at the Grey Gums Pub to thank our loyal fans.

See you there this Sunday night to cheer on the Sydney Bears, puck drops at 5pm.
