6 points are on offer for the Bears this weekend which could see them vault to second in the conference. On Saturday they'll go to Canberra to play the Knights, who are coming off 2 straight losses. Then on Sunday it's up to Newcastle to face the Northstars.

Sydney has fallen to Newcastle, most of the damage being done in the first period. The Bears allowed 4 goals before the first intermission, and it was an uphill battle from then on. They persevered, and in final push they showed what they are capable of, scoring 4 goals in 5 minutes.
 
Bears Coach Steve Austin said “the first period killed us". “Once you’re behind, it is hard to fight back,” he said. “But the guys came together and got some confidence after some goals.”

This season the Bears have sacrificed two home games in a lucrative deal with Newcastle. As a result the team is heading North in their first game outside of Sydney.

Two power-play goals from the Bears were not enough, as they went down to the Dogs 5-2 in Liverpool.

Alex and Innes traveled hours to watch the first Bears game at Sydney Ice Arena, and for that they're our fans of the month for May. Well done guys!

The Blue-tongues scored early in the first period but the Bears soon leveled the score with a goal scored by Michael Schlamp and assisted by Vlad Rubes. However the Blue-tongues once again took the lead with their second goal. The Bears had some quality shooting but were unable to get past the Gold Coast goalie. Meanwhile the Blue-tongues managed to slip in three more goals before the end of the period, and the Bears only one through Vlad Rubes leaving the score at a disheartening 5 goals to 2.

2007 AIHL scoring leader Tomas Landa has signed with Sydney for the 2012 season. A pure goal sniper, Landa put up an outrageous 62 points in 25 games that season for the Bears. The 28 year old Czech was a fan favourite, because of his silky skills and clutch goal scoring ability. He’s been back in his home country playing for HC Risuty, but couldn’t resist the opportunity for another foray in the expanding AIHL. Bears Coach Vlad Rubes, also from the Czech Republic, is delighted to have Landa back in the roster.
